I recently ordered a cam from Lunati Part# 40299 specs 612 in. 630 ex. 255 in. 263 ex. at .050 ground on 104 lobe separation. When degreeing the cam we found out it was actually ground on 98 lobe separation. We talked to Steve at Lunati and he will replace the cam no problem. I am curious what this cam will do though, I figure it will make great power and have a real short power band. The engine is a 12.5:1 468 with 990 heads going into a 3300 pound Chevelle and raced in the 1/8 mile. Has anyone had any experience with a cam ground on this tight of lobe centers and should I try it or just send it back? thanks

Were you checking this on an early Cam Doctor? It did not compensate for the bank-angle difference, so one bank reads 6.25° too small, and the other reads 6.25° too large. You would have to check both banks, in the engine, to get the right LSA.
I think 98° LSA is a little tight for me. I remember making some BBCs around 105° to 106°, and thousands on 107°, but nothing that tight.
Send it back.
