Has anyone ever heard of using type f tranny fluid in a gm tranny to improve shifting? I was asking about like B&M trick shift and i was told not to waste my money on the B&MTS, and to just use type f because it was bassically the same? Any thoughts on the subject???

ME and a couple friends use type F in our race trannys, th350 th400 and PG. It works fine in that application, shifts normal. But we probly don't see the same heat a street car would. I heard B&M fluid is basically just type F. Thinner than dexron.

Type F fluid is not the same as it used to be.

The old type F fluid would "grab" better than the GM fluid, which is why people would switch.

However, the current formulations don't do that anymore - there's no reason to use it over any other regular transmission fluid.

If you're looking for protection, run the Mobil1 trans fluid.

Its not so much just for protection, but the tranny is starting to get a few miles on her, and starting to slip just a bit, so, well yeah i guess for protection, and for a better grab. It i hold my foot to the floor right out of the hole, when i get up around 3500-4000 rpm, before it shifts into 2nd gear, it starts slipping. I was told that the type F would help the brab, and that it was the same thing as B&M trick shift. If this wouldnt do it, or at least help, than what would, besides a rebuild??

Just like a manual clutch, once it starts slipping it's not going to get any better by itself and the slipping will only cause what it worn to wear out faster. No magic part or fluid will help the situation. If it's slipping, get it rebuilt or you may do even more expensive damage than is already present.

Type F USED TO help the grab - new formulations do not.
