on my '70 el camino SS, the turn signal dash lights become somewhat illuminated(dim)when the headlights are on. they blink bright and correct when activated. is this normal or is there a wiring problem?

One or both of the front turn signal lights, in the bumper, has a ground problem.
Remove both light bulbs.
Turn the head lights on.
The dash indicators should not come on dimly.
Re-insert one turn signal light at a time.
This should help you find out which one it is.
