Last year I got my electric choke installed and all figured out on my Holley. Now I can start the car, let it warm up, and drive. I stop, go into a store or the house for 15-20 min, then start it up to leave, the car plays "cold blooded" with me for the next minute or so. Wants to stall and hesitate. I don't get it. My old Chevelle and Camaro with Holleys were fine for the day once they warmed up. I could throw the keys to a friend or my wife and they were safe to move my car or take it for a spin. My current car = no way. Nobody can hop in, turn the key, hit the gas and go without it dying. Nice security feature but what a pain for me.

How can I get this carb to be user friendly?

I’d first make sure you’re getting a full 12v to the choke to ensure it’s operating correctly. You can also adjust the choke by rotating the choke housing. Don’t remember which way is which.

Also, if your current car has a more performance oriented engine than the previous cars, that very well could have a lot to do with it.

So its closing fully when cold, but not working optimally when "semi-warm", so check it while "semi-warm" and see what state the choke is in. You may have to reduce the opening tension a bit.

Choke seems to be working fine. I will take the air cleaner off and see the position of the choke after I stop the car and let it sit a bit. Engine is 350 HP and similar to my previous cars.
