Trying to get a postive id on my engine, 69 396 matching numbers on engine and vin tag , original aluminum manifold, original air filter says 375 hp,
I was told if there is a oil cooler plug by the oil filter that is id,? I havent got to the numbers under the alternator yet, is there something I can find that would be a psoitve id

Are there any numbers on the pad behind the alternator? If it's dirty, don't use a destructive process to clean it. There may be numbers near the oil filter from some plants.

Those are the numbers that you need. The other stuff will just get you in the ballpark.
