I have a 66 Chevelle and I have made some changes to the dash. It does not leave very much room to install a stereo in the stock location.

What I was looking for is a CD or MP3 unit that would mount in the truck and has a remote control.

I have check a few stores and they told me these CD changers or MP3 players all require an FM radio. The CD/MP3 players do not have a built in amp to drive the speakers and it is not possible to connect them directly to a trunk mounted amp.

Anyone have a good solution for an installation with very little room behind the dash.

There are also under dash kits available that will house modern din types of stereos. DON’T CUT YOUR DASH! This link has several high resolution photos of an “under dash” set up on a 1970. Dial up users beware. http://members.cox.net/darrens70ss/stereo.htm
