T a gauge into the hoes between the pump and booster. this will tell you how much vacuum you have and if it holds after the pump shuts off...
also check how much vacuum the engine has- if it has anywhere close to 15" of vacuum at idle, ditch the vacuum pump and run a hose to the biggest port on the base of the carb.
