Casting #3855961
Assembly Vin code G106443
Engine Code stamp T 09 1 II GR

I believe the markings on this block mean the following:
Casting is a Chevy Big Block 1965-1967, 396 or 427
Assembled in Framingham, MA, Vin # 106443
Engine was assembled in T=Tonawanda, 09=Sept, 1=1st, II=65 66 67, Suffix of GR

The "GR" suffix is where I hit a brick wall, I can't find any "GR" suffix explaining what car this engine came out of.
Does anyone know about this suffix?

Thanks in advance!

Actually its T0911 IGR where 0911 is September 11th and the suffix is IG 1965-67 Chevrolet 396/325 HP and the R is for a Rochester carburetor.

Dave, I think you nailed it. The intake has "Q JET" on the casting. I assume that is for the Rochester Quadrajet. The intake casting #is 3883948 X I don't know if that helps confirm this. I don't own a Chevelle, I have this engine in my 1966 Corvette Coupe. I knew the engine #s didn't match when I bought it, but I didn't know what engine it was. While researching on the net I came across this forum and after reading some of the posts, I thought this was the place to get help.

AL, I found a GR suffix, and yes, it was on that small block Corvette. I will try to get a clear picture and post it. The stamping is not very pronounced.

Thank you both for your Help!

I'm thinking this engine was in a Chevelle with a Power Glide transmission? I'm not sure what Chevys they produced in Framingham.
Originally, that engine was in a full size chevy as noted above!!
