I just purchased a 70 Malibu which I hope to turn into an SS look-alike (notice I didn't use the word clone.) Anyway, my question is regarding the trim below the headlight doors and behind the bumper. It is bright trim (aluminum I think) that is the same length as the headlight doors. One on each side. I have had several 70 SS cars in the past and I do not remember ever seeing this type of trim on them. Is this standard on Malibu cars? Did any SS cars have this trim? Your help is appreciated... Yes, Both SS's & Malibu's recieved this trim, but only on very early production cars. After that it was dropped.

You probably have a very early production car. :thumbsup:

Malibu and SS cars built before March of 1970 would normally have these.

On Dales site in the photo gallery the second red chevelle down from the top (75 75) has the trim pieces below the head lights. I think they add some detail to the front of the car.
