Hello all. I have a 2020 Chevy 2500 Express work van. Today a message came up on the dash that said "transmission hot idle engine". It shifted funny 1 time when i pulled out from a traffic light, then 15 mins later wouldn't shift out of low gear. Finished my service calls then drove 35 mins home, no shifting issues, but message remained on. It did not throw a code. Any body had issues like this?
Thanks
Mike

Yes indeed. It can be monitored with a good scan tool but its typically not available on the cheap, Bluetooth OBD2 hardware modules and phone applications. The only thing that I have that can directly monitor transmission temperature is my "VCX Nano" J2534 device "Tech2" clone.

Although, my very inexpensive Harbor Freight infrared temperature gauge seems to be accurate. Aim the light at where you want a temperature reading and squeeze the trigger. Instant reading!! The most accurate readings seem to be when aiming at dark surfaces, not shiny.
