Transmission Fluid Dipstick

The area where the fluid is read on the dipstick is broken off and I don't know what the original length it's supposed to be. I bought a replacement at the auto store, but it's too long (it said TH350 on the package). I've looked at my chevelle manuals, but no luck. Thanks! Jessica
