Need help here. This morning backing out & after reversing I tried to put it in drive & no go. The shifter wouldn't go in 2nd or 1st. Able to put it in Reverse so back up to parking spot & after removing the center console the shifter seemed to be free & I was able to move through all gears. Idle was very low for some strange reason so I drove back into my driveway & bumped up the idle on the carb. Now the tranny seems to be in Drive the whole time. The sifter moves through all the gears, when I shift through all gears P,R,N,D it is in drive the whole time. Even in park the car moves foward when I rev it up with the parking brake still on.
Don't know where to start looking.
I checked the fluid & it was at the full level.

I have a TH350, Q-jet with a B&M Pro Ractchet shifter.

Check the linkage under the car, at the tranny - may have worked loose, and movement in the shifter isn't being transmitted to the tranny.

Is the linkage on the drivers or passengers side? I did install a new collector gasket on the passengers side last night, wonder if I hit something.

If its not in the shifter it sounds like maybe the forward clutch is stuck on...may have to come out.

I had the linkage rod come off inside the tranny once and it did the same thing. removed the pan put it back together and havent had any more problems.

Well finally got it running last night. Some how when the shifter jammed & I forced it the gear inside the tranny pan came off. Also, there was a little S clip attatched to a cylinder & the gear came off as well. Only problem now is I can't get the shifts right it is 2 off when I go to reverse & drive. I'm going to try a new shifter cable.
