I have a SS gauge cluster with the standard gauges and the printed circuit board. I would like to use new gauges. If I use gauges from Speedhut or Dakato digital, will I be able to get rid of the printed circuit? What else is controlled through that circuit? How hard is the conversion?

If you use any aftermarket set you will certainly get rid of the printed circuit board. Most of the complete clusters have a "brain" that you connect your wire harness into. You cut the end off the plug that goes into the current gauges and then wire accordingly. Not really difficult but I wouldn't do this without a wiring diagram.
