At the risk of sounding like a whiner...I had a tough week.

I was out of town last week and the wife called, the house flooded. Carpet ruined, stereo receiver shot, not sure about the speakers for the surround system yet, Tic-toc-tach and some other parts for my 68 RS/SS Camaro got wet, all my reference books like Assembly Instruction Manaual, Chevrolet By the Numbers etc trashed, guitars got wet, computer modem trashed (finally got a new one) need to replace the sump pump and am going to put in a second one in too. All this will cost thousands.

Got an email from the shop that is doing work to my new Chevelle and there is hidden rust and body damage. This will cost a lot more than originally anticipated but the real problem for me is that I abhor rust and even the thought of my car having had rust is an issue. I bought the AZ car just because it had no visible rust. The stuff we found was after total disassembly.

Now I got the flu and am out of work for at least today and the cable is out.

Whine, whine, whine, I know. But all in all I should be grateful. I have a great life. A beautiful wife who is also a gourmet cook and a very cool chick, a job that pays well (for now), a good Church life, good friends, and I am sober. Things could be worse.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Sometimes things seem to just hit us all at once, huh??? That sucks about the water...yours sounds like a basement problem, cause you mentioned a sump pump. We had a flood a few years ago at the other house, my son is in that one now. My wife and I went to a concert about 45 mins away, came home just after midnight to the sound of water running in the back part of the house. Turns out a pipe had broken under the upstairs bathroom sink, and it had to have run for hours...tons of damage. All is well now, but I know just how you feel having been thru it before!! Just dry things out, get a dehumidifier or two down there to help...maybe your insurance will pay for that, mine did. Hope you feel better soon Mark. John

Thanks everybody for not flaming me for whining. The insurance adjuster came to day and we added up the damage. Around $8,500 and the insurance will only pay $5,000 IF they honor the claim. The two new sump pumps with new crocks and all are another $1,500 so I figure to be out about $5,000 out of pocket, assuming the insurance company honors the claim.

Oh well, it's only money.
