how much torque will I loose with a 3" vs a 2.5" on a 310 hp motor. the reason im asking is i just put in the 307 and the car needs exhaust but later on this year probably like november im throwin in my other sbc that im building. It should have about 475-500hp and the 3" will work good for that. but for now I need to get it done and I only wanna do it once. what do you guys think??

As you already know 3" is a bit large for a mild 307 but, if I were in your shoes I would go ahead and go for the 3" since you will be stepping up the engine later this year anyways. You are not going ot be racing with the 307 @ 310HP anyway. So with a little loss of low end torque I doubt you will have any issues. Why spend the money twice?

With a stout 307 like that I wouldn't worry about it. It must have some good compression and good heads to make that much power.

I put 3 inch kits on both of my chevelles. I know I probably lost a little torque with my setups, but I love the sound, and I still have good performance. The thing is if you are going to go to a hot 383 sbc, or even go to big block in the future, you will not have to redo the exhaust system. JMO... Goodluck, the Jegs kit worked great for me twice....
