Hey Brian, I bought a stock boot, and looked at the sandwich trick, but my aftermarket console plate fits so tight I don't think I could get it in. I thought about gluing it on the underside of the plate, but it has that floor contouring curve in the rubber that might make it hard to do get attached. I guess I should give it at try, if it fails, nothing lost but a boot I have already hacked up.
My carpet is toast, too, from the console mounting work I did on it when I installed it a few years ago. I like the console for keeping junk in.
I can't remember, did you do the front or rear shifter housing mounting? I sure like the rearward position with my odd ball lever.
