Here is something weird. I had the timing set, it was off 3* retard. Before, when I would start it, it would idle real smooth on start-up and when I drove off. Now, it idles a little rough on initial start-up, but is good when I drive away. Is it the timing? (but I checked it is good) or is it more like my plugs?

How do you mean "rough" for the drive away thing?

When my number 3 plug wire was fowled I would get a stumble or hesitation during this situation: Cruising at 2k RPM, step up to half throttle acc. It would think about it then just UP AND GO.

Are you running vacuum advance?

Is your base about 12-15*BTDC?

AS long as your plugs are not black and very WET you should be ok there.

My ignition is electric. The sticker on the hood calls for 4* Maybe I'll replace the plugs? When I start it it is fine (idle), but when I put it into drive for the first time, its a little rough. As the day goes on, it is fine though, its just in the morning.

Sorry about the carb question Ron, I didn't realize you had the TBI until I re read the post. My fault ! Some of the problems we've had here at the shop have been bad plug wires, especially the coil wire. Pull the wires off of the cap and see if there is any corrosion in the cap or on the connectors. That is where I would start.

Thanks Tom,
I did replace the wires with no luck. The only thing that was recently done was timing and a compression check.
