Ok , so we went to tnt on Friday night, light breeze, about 60*, 87-97 jets, 14 psi in slicks, 17* initial timing, and ONE FULL TURN preload on morel lifters as per Chris Straub instructions.
1- 1.67, 7.25, 96.89, 11.38, 119.89
2- 1.65, 7.20, 96.68, 11.32, 119.38
3- 1.63, 7.23, 95.87, 11.39, 120.37
And this was with no track prep and lots of street tires. Some of the other passes I had to get out of it completely or pedal a few time and then give it up cause it was just not there.

Race day, 15-25 mph head wind straight down the track, about60*, it still ran 1.65s, 95-96 mph and 7.25-7.26.
Also WON the dash for cash,($10.00 entry, winner takes half the pot, track gets other half) best combo,(reaction + off dial) reaction was .028 and ran 7.2621 on a 7.26 dial for a combo of .0301, and was worth $125.00 and the bye for the first round of eliminations ,but odd number of cars so I had to run, in which it shook the tires hard, track was coming and going, cloudy and then sunny, and very little track prep, but lost to a good guy on a good team so it wasn't so bad, he had a bad run also, just not as bad as mine, bought back in and blew tires away in second round and then loaded up and watched some racing and then headed home, all together two days (one night and a day) cost $17.00 at the track, got some new bests and didn't break anything. Had a large time!:D

Nitrous coming soon and probably the 3.31 gears to as the 4.10s are a PITA on the hiway.

Nice going on the new best and with a bottle it will be better. The gears will be great for hwy I had 4:10's and hated the freeway put 3:55's and love it.
The 331s I already have, they are the original gears to my rear end, I know they ore not the best for the strip but this car spends most of its time on the hiway and are stil kinda ok for the track, plus with the added torque of the future nitrous hit, they may work well at the track also, and I finaly remembered to look at the tach and I am crossing 1/4 mile stripe at 119-120 @ 6600 and rev limiter is set at 7000, any more and the belts come off.

Thanks

Nice! I'm interested in what it does at the track with less gear.
Todd, thanks, IIRC, earlier this year it had the 331s in it and I THINK it ran 7.6 something and 11.8 something but I would have to go dig out time slips to be absolutely sure, and with the 331s I cross 1/8 stripe in 2nd gear, but I have never remembered to look at tach to see what it is turning:sad:. When I stage I get tunnel vision and all I can see is the light and the finish line, sometimes I don't even remember what car I raced, unless I can see it in front of me going down the track, then it's kinda hard to forget.:(
Also been meaning to ask about your converter, is it street friendly, and when I say street I don't mean cruising main street to the local drive-in I mean drive anywhere, go anywhere, anytime, in town, back roads or hiway at 70+mph for extended periods.

Thanks

Mac,
What do they say when you tell them in a Hyd roller?
They get that look, ya know the one like ya just kicked your dog, or slapped your grandmaw, and then comes the ah-huh, or REALLY. And when I tell them it's .650 lift AND they see me drive in the gate and change tires they look like they just saw Elvis, and ya ought to see them when I just reach in the window and hit the key and it starts.............................PRICELESS
Plus when idling in gear around 800 it doesn't even have enough vaccume to close the hood flapper.

Thanks Chris

It is likely you will be needing a ring and pinion soon so be prepared for it. Be sure your rear is up to the task.
rear end: stock axles, stock lugs, stock housing, Richmond Gear street r&p, summit aluminum cover with brace bolts, strange street c clip eliminators. the 331 gears are factory that came in the rear end. Driveshaft is 4" speced by Driveshaft Specialties and spicer solid 1310s, driveshaft loop is still sittin on the bench waiting to be installed, it's over a year old, I'll get to it:yes:.
