Hi All,
I'm new to this list and I'm the proud new owner of a '66 Chevelle SS, 396.(floor shift) I am putting a new interior in the car and I want it to be right. The question I have is this. Did any of the Chevelles come with a factory tilt and telescoping steering column? I called on an ad for one and the guy swears up and down that it came out of a '66. I've seen the tilt, which is what I wanted...but telescoping? Thanks for the help.

there were not any telescoping columns offered in 66 to my knowledge and per the restoration manual. i added the tilt column to my 66, it made a nice upgrade.

my Grandad's 66 Caprice had a tilt/telescope column, with buckets and the console with gauges in it (396 auto). Now just because some restoration manual doesn't show it foe Chevelle does not mean GM did not offer it, it would be a rare option maybe for cars with power windows, a/c, delux interior etc. Look at a factory assembly manual or fisher body manual.

If it fits the full size, it won't fit a Chevelle. A whole different animal.
