we should have a new section for team chevelle dedicated to finding former owners, and the history of our cars like state, dealers etc....
we could post all we know about our cars and maybe our members can recognise or help in our searches. maybe by posting all we know,it may jog some memories or someone may find thier old car listed.
what do you think?

Although the correct spot for this is Team Talk, I think that it is a good idea too.

Best idea I've heard yet. Been trying to locate my first 70SS in Indiana for some time. Did a title search in IN and it came up blank. Next I'll do the registration search and see what happens. I know the current owner has it in IN.

That's a good idea, but there are privacy issues to consider. And in some states, attempting to find a former owner of a car may violate right to privacy laws.

I don't want to find the former owner of my car. I bought it from a couple who had been through a bitter divorce. She had attempted to forge his signature on the title at one time. When I bought it, he signed the back, but whe was nowhere to be found. So there was only one valid signature on the title, which was in both names. Ain't love grand? From what I've learned since, she still doesn't know that the car has been sold. I had to get a bonded title so I could register the car in Texas. Fortunately, I bought the car in another state.

Bad78Malibu, you in Columbus? Your car doesn't happen to be black with a 2 1/2 cowl does it? I was down on west broad and saw a really nice 78 or 79 Malibu.

could we get in trouble for posting names of people and such?
plus the idea could be used in two ways. one for us trying to learn our cars history, the other for older owners trying to locate thier old car.
i do appreciate the post regarding privacy, but replies and submissions would be voulentary.
unfortunately, i am not computer literate enough to start such a project.

That's a great idea, I'd love to find my dad's 69 SS 396. It came factory with the 396/375, M22, 4.56 rear, chambered exhaust. I'd love to see where it ended up.

I've been trying to find my dads or 68SS for a while now.I've went through DMV to see it i could get teh VIN off of it.I filled out a paper to be sent to Richmond,va to find the vin.Back in 1980 my dad so his ss because he needed the money, the guy he sold it to went the next day and robbed a bank. The car was ditched and taken by the cops to the inpound.I was told be DMV that since the title was still in my mothers name that it couldn't be sold, but you know how that goes, the law does what it wants. So im guessing it was auctioned off.If was a 68SS butternut yellow with a black vinyl top,400TH on the column,396/unknown HP,black int with bench seats. It was sold in Danville,VA in 1980.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
A SECTION FOR "LOST & FOUND" WOULD BE NICE.
