Searching diligently for a thermostat housing (new or good used) for my 283 rebuild. Can't find the right configuration. Radiator hose connection is upper left as you look at engine. Therefore, the thermostat housing is pointing to "8 o'clock". Can find similar housing with pipe plug on top -not correct.
