I think it said something like...

"They had dominated E/Stock, the second class down for production vehicles, until Ray Allen showed up with a 454 LS-6 Chevelle convertibles. ".... hehehe.. well yah!!!....silly mopes thought they could keep up with the rats...:)

Says the car was built as a Hemi 4 spd car, then converted to an auto for SS/EA. Ineresting, every Super Stock car I knew had the full interior intact and a full roll cage. Why is the nose not painted like in the pictures??

the ls6 wasn't stock if you read the story, it was running much faster than a similar car from the factory, so im sure there is a similar story to that chevelles history ;)

I read the story....There is no way a stock LS6 convertible could run 10's off the show room floor  . I don't recall inferring it was stock?

They were still trying to beat a Big Block Chevrolet LS6 Convert Chevelle, and had to cheat to do it. Looks to me like the Chevy guys were smarter and/or better cheaters! ;)

You have to keep something in mind. In stock class competition, you run the factory "advertised" duration - that can be anything up to 360 degrees using GM's old rating system. You could have a cam in there with 270 @ .050 and still be legal for stock duration.

So is it an original 4 speed or auto?
It was 4-speed from the factory, and was converted to automatic for Werst.

That's quite a story surrounding the car's mission. I just noticed that it said "Maxwell, who had all the answers, recently perished in a motorcycle accident." Is that Dick Maxwell, the Chrysler engineer?

All that and its been sitting on display in a VW dealership.

Because most people that shop in a VW dealer are going to care about a peice of american musclecar history.
