I just recently purchased a 402 and i am building it back to specs the only difference is it is bored thrity over with headers. But I was wondering about the amount of hp it produced from the factory. I have heard that these motors were under rated so does anyone know exactly the hp rating and what my hp rating would be with headers, probably hooker headers.

Also what cam should i use, if i dont go back stock, that will provide the best preformance?

HI,there was 3 402's (396)for 70.the LS3 was 330HP ,The L34 was 350HP ,AND the L78 was 375HP.The LS3 was not avalible in the SS cars.
