I purchased a new TH400 from one of our own here at TC, and just installed it. He is not available for personal reasons, so until he is able to get back with me, I thought I would ask here. He is well known, and he knows what he is doing. But like anything else, "crap" happens.... I consider him a friend, so this is in no way a bash him thread. I just need some help until he gets back with me. It could be something real simple, or ???

The tranny does not have reverse until 3000 rpms. Neutral, Park, and 1st are ok. Various fluid levels have been tried from just below the mark, to right at the high line of being full. I will take it around the block tomorrow to check other gears. Where would I hook up the tranmisions gauge to test pressure? Is there anything else I can do to check it? Thanks for the help.

Check your linkage to be sure it is in gear and in between detents. Not sure if vacuum will affect reverse or just forward shifts.
