i have a th400 trans leak on my 70ss. the leak is by the pan. i replaced the gasket twice and the 2nd time i used some sealer but it still leaks. the next thing is to put on a new pan. i heard th400 were known to leak by the pan is this true? anyone have same problem or any other suggestions? thanx

Mike, I had the same trouble. I kept wiping off the pan to see if I could find it. Last year I pulled trans to put in a higher stall converter. I put in a front seal and the pan don't leak anymore. I was looking in the wrong place.
Try to make sure that the pan bolt holes are not mushroomed up. If they are flatten them out level with the pan. Careful not to flatten out the ribs between the holes. Check your front seal you never know. Good Luck, Rick..
