I have been told by some old time race guys that the TH400 in the LS6 can be put in 1st or low gear and left there and will still shift through all gears into third at 6500 rpms. I don't wish to try it, but can anyone confirm this?

Dave,I have heard all TH400's can do that..meaning if you leave it in 1st,it will force an upshift into 2nd at a very high RPM..don't know about hitting drive though....in fact,when I had the CY unit redone in my car a few years back the builder mentioned that to me,but I haven't tried it

I know for a fact it will shift from 1-2 but is a very hard shift at high rpm and is very capable of twisting a drive shaft into. Been there done that. Do not recommend it.

A friend's '68 L35 Chevelle would upshift at about 5300 when left in low. Sort of a factory rev limiter.
