I've got a 200r4 that has been built for HP up to 500. That's not my problem. These 4 speed automatics require an electrical hookup to control the lockup. First question-- what is the lockup function, and 2nd, what would happen if I didn't use the lockup function?

I am in no way an expert on that transmission, but you can get a non-lockup converter for it so you don't need all that stuff. I don't know if this is dependent on exactly how the transmission is built or not. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on this trans will comment.

If you run a non LU conv. there's a kit to use in the LU valve train. Never used it. as I like the LU feature. I just did a manual LU with brake, vac., & toggle switch.
