Thanks for the replies guys! But I got one more question for you. I know there are kits to hook up a kickdown switch, but has anyone made up their own combo? Secondly if your foot is planted to the floor and the button is depressed, how does the tranny upshift to the next gear after it down shifts. With the button still depressed. DO these setups just send an electrical pulse instead of a continuos charge to the trans. And does it reset after the button is released? I guess my second question is how does this all work while your foot is still depressing the switch! Im sorry if this sounds confusing but I dont know how else to explain it.Thanks in advance!

Your TH400 kick-down is an electric solenoid.
Even when it is activated, the governor within your tranny will over-ride the valving, and allow an up-shift. The governor only allows a given RPM to be reached, (it is centrifically operated) before dictating an up-shift occur.

This is why your transmission will ultimately shift, even when the vacuume line is disconnected.
When I install the switch I got it new from my GM dealer the switch for the Chevelle is still available the bracket to mount it is not.Get the parts guy to copy the picture of the bracket and make your own I used a piece of angle not that hard...FRED
