America became xenophobic, which is quite hilarious when you think that America was build by immigration that started 400 years ago.
In reality people in America are facing two choices:
-Either you welcome, support, train, educate immigrants who came to america for a better life. You help em to integrate and engage in our lifestyle.
-Either you kiss your entire manufacturing sector goodbye, let it go offshore, to third world countries, empoverish America gradually and that poor immigrant you didn't wanted here, will now come here, buy your boss's business and the big beachfront house you always dreamed of.
North America is at crossroads, the world is moving quick around us we need to get our heads out of our arse and stop the in-fighting that only benefits our enemies.

The last "immigrant" I tried to hire a few weeks ago, about 26 years old, wouldn't you know his grandapa died exactly 5 hours before he was supposed to start. A Wednesday. He texts and says he'll have to start Friday. I give him my condolences and tell him OK. Friday comes, no show. Monday I get a text saying he'll come Tuesday. By this time I know he's full of it and tell him no. He phones right away and says' "I'll send the death certificate". I'm game and tell him , sure, I'd like to see that.

Other than me and the office gal, there are only immigrants working here. All the Canadians have quit, or gotten themselves fired for being "yo dude, I don't think I can make it in today, dude,..... I was up late partying last nite, dude"......
So, any person can get hired. But they ALL don't wanna work anymore. What I really want is to find out how they are getting money to live. I'd like to be on the same boat.
So ya, things are gonna get a lot worse.
Prices will skyrocket more as there will be less product.
Can't wait until food is one of them products. We're in for a rough ride. A camshaft will be the least of our worries.

Legal immigration has been curtailed here for some years. The educated are not welcome to come here for a better life. Those walking over the southern border are preferred as they are often takers who will do anything to get money. From our govt. some do work but are very supplemented. From our tax dollars. As educated from the west are no longer welcomed by our govt.

Yep.
When I was young, we had a lot of immigrants on temporary work visas, working in the area. Now, it's almost impossible to get a temporary work visa. Plenty of uneducated illegal immigrants to do manual labor, but that won't help the manufacturing industry.

I remember in the mid 90s we ran a little racing operation and we "spent" our winters down south, in florida for R&D and testing new set ups. No matter where or how we hired in florida, People would just never show up... And the job was to help wrenching on ultra clean RACE CARS and chilling at the track...
So I can imagine that finding people to wipe floors or vulcanize rubber O-rings in a plumbing factory must be quite tough indeed.
Those are some of the challenges we face now, but like for most urgent issues in this world , those can be solved with proper education and parenting... The future is now.

I just raised the price of out 8620 steel ,hydraulic roller cams to $541.64
Our cast iron flat tappet cams just went up to $299.69-$308.32
