the tenp. gauge is not reading the correct temp of the engine I have replaced the sender several times the gauge shows it hotter then it is, the last one I changed it to was supposed to be callabrated it shows it cooler but it boiled over yesterday it was hotter than the 210 showing on the gauge I had hooked up a mechanical gauge to fond out the real temp but I want to keep it stock looking any suggestions? thanks, Marty

Possibly a bad ground, either at the guage or at the sendng unit.

If you are using teflon tape with your sending unit you could be creating a problem. Too much tape too far down the threads could make for bad contact.

Check your grounds under the dash, this could cause screwy readings.

If the wire from the sending unit to the guage is too small, might have too much resistence.

I know you said you changed the sending unit, did you try another guage (not mechanical)?

Thats all I can think of

You didn't say what year your car is but I do know that the newer GM replacement sending units do not have the same reistance specs. Paragon Corvette Parts in Swartz Creek, Michigan can help you if you have a pre-70's car.
