I've looked into it and all you really need is a lot of salt, alum and practice.
Tanning deer hides?
Does any one on here have any experience with tanning animal hides, mainly deer? I just picked up my deer from the processer and he gave me 3 skins to practice on. Zach.

The processor says he takes his to a taxidermist. He said he would give me all thge skins I wanted, because he only throwes them out. After I make them they could easily be sold for $40-$60.
