I have a 70 elky and want to paint it black with white SS strips did the factory use a white strip on the center of the tail gate if there was the two trim pices to border it or was the only callor used was black and wood grain?

The base El Camino (133/13480) was painted body color. The Custom El Camino (135/13680) was wood-grain. The SS El Camino was painted black and stripes were on the hood only - no tailgate stripes.

Mine is teal blue,but the people before me painted the area below the side moldings and tailgate center area silver.The body paint is original and the silver is an old paint job.Some people think it is original,should have been black.Unless was a real dark color then kept its color.Have gotten 6 first place trophies.Its not what i'm taken it back to going back to black.Would think as long as you don't stripe the roof,i wouldn't say anything.But the factory would have just had the tailgate all black.
