i want to put a tach in my 69 chevelle and want to secure it on the steering column like the old days. any suggestions on which one ?
anyone know how it's done today without scratching the column ?

Most will come with a strip of rubber that goes inside of the hose clamp. Autometer makes quality tachs, and you can still buy Sun tachs for the old school look.

I have the white faced tach sold by Chevrolet. It has the red bow tie on the face. It fit the top of the steering column area quite well.

I have an AutoMeter tack mounted on the column by a radiator clamp and 1/2" wide strip of rubber between the clamp & column. I believe AutoMeter makes a special column mount clamp for the purpose, check the Summit or Jegs catalog.
