Personally, I wouldn't use one. I would still change the filter everytime just in case. I am sure they could be good, but I would still rather change it. Thats just my $.02 though.

the people that sell them swear by them, because their getting $150 for them
seems like you spill oil all over trying to change it-i wasnt crazy over the design, i never liked reusing a filter, after cleaning theres always the possibility of dirt from cleaning getting in there -when i had my machine work done, he would'nt stand behind it if i did'nt buy one, so i switched shops-i use the $7 k & n's-lets face it-there would be millions of engines failing if standard filters did'nt work-on a new engine, i change filters after the first hour running(you would be suprised at lint and crap that comes out @ fire up, no matter how much you clean)
i have heard of people getting a little more oil press with system 1, and i guess people running them swear by them, but a poorly built engine is gonna fail no matter what filter you run

lets see, how many regular AC filters could you buy for the cost of the thing?

the only place I know of where these things make sense is like a carbureted alcohol dirt car where the oil is changed after every race.

I still have one that we used on our drag race engine. A big plus is the ease in which the element can be checked for contaminants or wear metals. A good aid in spotting engine problems before they become problems. I was amazed at the amount of trash a filter catches. Stuff that would go undetected with a regular spin on filters.

I agree 100% with Racing. I also use a system one filter in my drag car. An oil change won't be any easier or harder, it's just a better way off looking at the element. I change the oil and examine the filter every race so between that and lashing my valves I have a real good handle of what's going on inside the engine.

I like my stock canister filter off my original motor.

Sure, it's messy to clean out and a pain to use an ice-pick to get the "O-ring" out of the groove, but I can inspect my filter every time!

I THINK you can also get a long one off a h-d truck so that you can hold a quart more oil if it doesn't hang down too far if I remember right?

Been using System1 for 2 years now and think it works great! Invaluable to be able to take apart an inspect exactly what going through engine!
