I have a 1972 Chevelle with a 307. The ignition has been upgraded with a Pertronix unit, new plugs, coil, wires, cap and rotor. At a steady speed, say from 35 mph and above, the car feels like it is surging. The car has about 138,000 miles and has a Th350. Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance,

Jim

My car did that at one time, it turned out to be the carb gasket, air was somehow sneeking through, causing the surge. everything is fine at idle and reving to high rpm's but if you try to keep a constant speed it surges.
Someone told me to take a propane torch (DON'T LITE IT) just cut on the gas and pass it by your carb gasket while your engine is running, if there's a leak the engine will cut off. I just replaced my gaskets and everything works fine now.
good luck
