I am prepping a Nos panel that has seen rough "shelf damage". the part has become lightly rusted in many areas. After I sand off the factory primer and surface rust there are some areas where the rust has lightly etched and marked the metal. What should I do before paint to the bare metal?

navel jelly.
Keep it wet with jelly then rise with water, da sand with 80 grit and epoxy prime.

Navel jelly will eat away the rust leaving you with clean bare steel, it WONT convert it, it removes it. I find at any automotive store...Eric

+1 on the Naval Jelly. You can also use saran wrap and cover the naval jelly to keep it from drying out.

How long do you let the jelly soak and do you have to scrub or just let it sit?
