I bought a crate motor off a guy who sprayed the heads black. Is there any good way to take the paint off? They are the corvette L98 heads and I wanted the aluminum look. So is there a good way to do this or should I just buy some of the aluminum looking paint out of the eastwood catalog and respray them?

I would wipe them down good with acetone, and respray right over the black.
But wait to hear what others have to say.

I have the same heads and they were also painted. As stated above, use paint stripper to get the paint off. Use a good automotive based stripper thats thick. Took about 45 minutes or so per head. Then get them bead blasted and they will look like new.

I've used the nasty aircraft stripper aerosol that WalMart sells, in conjunction with a wire brush. Will remove everything from the heads quickly. Be sure to wear long sleeves and gloves when doing the wire brush part, because if the stripper gets on your skin, you'll know it.
