Hello everyone my 1972 Chevelle convertible was stolen at a bump shop in Mt. Clemens, MI. on 9/4/13. car is black with white SS stripes with original cowl hood and black convertible top. 454 motor with keystone wheels. Bump shop? Forgive me for my lack of knowledge on this, but would the shop have some responsibility? Dont shops have to carry insurance for this type of tragedy?

Let us assume a bump shop is some type of body repair, bumper repair, or auto repair. If a vehicle is left outside your insurance has to cover it. Anything damaged inside the shop it is our liability that covers it. My Garage Keepers covers over 30 mil between theft, fire, and liability. But only in the confines of my four walls.

Can't speak for other states, but in Flariduh, yes. even if I leave it out, your insurance has to cover it. No insurance? If the shop owner is a complete tool, you go to court.

Been checking craigslist and put out "feelers" for chevelle parts for a "restoration" I am doing (not really doing one), no positive feedback on parts so this might be a good thing....... it may not be parted out sorry to hear about the loss, it looks like a really nice car.

a 'Bump shop" is a collision repair center...... may be a "Midwest / Michigan" thing confused

Had an 86 Gt that was stolen around 91.
Turned up some cop in Mexico was driving it down there for 2 yrs. Detective said Id never see it again she was right.

Hope that vert shows up soon oughta be hard to hide

Running want ads for vert part on CL is a good idea.
