Thanks I just ordered full system from the parts place.
Sure hopes it fits better than the set I ordered from them for a 67SS. The bend on left side coming off the exhaust manifold wasn't even close. They told me that the pipe on the car was wrong as their replacement pipes are bent by a computer and can't be wrong. I told them to go f*** themselves and hung up. I ended up reusing the pipe that was on the car.

I just bought one of those USA made systems for under $400 on Amazon for the wife's 71 Camaro. It came from one of those type of car restoration sites. Well it fit perfect, I did not need to use a pipe expanded and sounds nice. For the money it can't be beat.

I set up and run cnc tube benders for a living. I can tell you for a FACT that they are rarely perfect right off the blue print. We put the program in and then must make adjustments to that program to get things to be correct. They are rarely exactly the same from one run to the other. So saying they can’t be wrong because a computer does it is absolute crap lol

2".. Some of them had chambered pipes with two small resonators in the back..

I used the Pypes 2-1/2" mandrill system but ordered it without the X pipe and no mufflers. For mufflers, use the Dynomax Super Turbo 17749.. They will be on the quiet side until they get a few thousand miles on them..
Following the advice of an old hot rodder, I poured automatic transmission fluid into each muffler and let it soak for a couple days. turning it on the other side every 12 hours or so. It will smoke for a couple days but once it stops, the fiberglass will be dry and become hardened, it will sound better and better. The 454 in my 69 el Camino has such a nice, mellow tone, with the Pypes, Mandrill bent, 2-1/2" system (X pipe and muffler delete), much like a 50s-60s big block ski boat..

Here is the original and the "new" computer made one side by side. Not even close.

Pypes 3" system fits my 68 real nice except I wish now I would of use 2.5" after the Violator mufflers so I could fit wider tires on the rear, these are 255/50r17" and I ordered M&H DR 275/50r17's today lol

Its getting hard to find the stock type exhaust for exhaust manifolds that fit. There is the $1000 stock systems but most people can't afford that. I went that route on my LS6 and cant keep the resonators from rotting out. The days of stopping at NAPA for exhaust parts is over except maybe mufflers, hangers or exhaust gaskets.
