My car not me. my freind's uncle has my car since feburary. only one quarter patch to go and a small roof dent. he showed me that the prior owner removed part of the wheelwell lip where the wheelwel trim goes and he has to fab some new metal there. the PO raced it and did not tub it he just ran without a trunk floor and inner wheelwells! i thought i would have it back by now but he is busy with life and only does one car at a time at his pace. he has a large spray booth and he does excellent work. so far everything looks great. i go every month or 6 weeks for visitation. can't wait but i don't expect to be driving it much this year.

I can understand people get frustrated when a shop promises them a certain time frame and then can't deliver. However usually the quick smaller jobs like collision are what pays their bills, so of course they will do that stuff first. Not saying its right, just saying. Now in OP situation it is a guy doing it on the side. I would rather him take his time and do a good job than to just do it good enough to get it out. I do some of this on the side from time to time and sometimes it's not easy to be real efficient and quick when it is not your main job.

Agreed, chances are you are getting a discounted rate because you know him or whatever.. be patient (I know, easier said than done) but chances are it will pay off in the long run. My car has been in primer for 2 years because I’m anal and won’t paint it until I feel like it’s ready.

I still take it to shows and I laugh when people walk by it because it’s not shiny. Those are the ones that don’t matter. The ones that see the work and respect what you have done are the ones that do.

when i bought the car it was diassembelled. the PO kept the frame on me so I bought a 4 door 65 that had half the body removed and used that frame that was ingreat shape. i welded in a new trunk and used parts from the donor. new tank ankmost everything else. iitryed to always get original parts when able. i built the car from the ground up.

my painter is not doing other cars just mine he is just real busy with other things. Im patient. i have two other hot rods but i just removed the engine from the GTO for a rebuild and can only use the elco.

my painter is real fussy on the body and wants it perfect before it gets painted.
