ok guys i checked everything today the tdc mark is on i put the number one piston all the way up and when i did that the dagree mark was at 0 or so and the rotor was facing the #1 on the dizzy , when the rotor is facing the number one it sits at twhere the 8 would be,so its a turned a point clock wise, i read thats ok as long as its at the number one piston any way let me know just for info for help,so my car fires right up but sounds like crap kinda and when i rev it, it pops and backfires not bad just dont rev out smooth or to far so any more ideas i have the 3 lines on the fuel pump i have the one to carb and from tank and the return, i have it blocked off, i checked the timing ten times or so and the firing order, so yea just need some ideas you guys are all i have so yea thanks again everyone thats help in arizona maybe i can get you guys pizza lol but yea thanks for the help

i think its that guys the timing spark vacuum i think the guy had the carb on a points motor

Check everything again just to single out possible gremlins! Also, we really do need a little more info pal, what kind of distributor? what kinda carb? did u check your wires? these things need to be addressed when troubleshooting over the internet. nothing personal just trying to help.

From the other thread you have going:

- When you checked your timing, did you have the vacuum adv hose disconnected & the port on the carb blocked?

- What is your timing set at? Initial AND total?

- Have you checked that all your plug wires are good?

- Having 2 plug wires swapped on the even or odd side would do exactly what you're describing (decent idle but rough when given throttle)

- Just a tip, it would make your posts much easier to read & understand if you'd throw a few punctuation marks in there.:thumbsup: Not trying to be a smartass or rude, but it does help.

Stay at it, you'll get the issues worked out.

ok sorry guys, but yea all the wires are good i just bought them 3 days ago checked everything like 18 times no bull, i dont have a timing light im trying to barrow one or buy one i have 10 bucks till monday so cant do it anytime soon, this motor was running then just the wires were taken off and carb and it was pulled then i put it in my car, thats why i thought if i just hooked up the wires it would fire, and the carb is a 3310-1 could it be the carb? sorry guys if i ask stupid things or alot of questions but im not getting help anywhere else it gets stressfull thanks tho you guys are a ton of help and i forgot the distributor is the stock one its from a 84 burban sorry if thats not help just tell me how i find out which one it is thanks
