FWIW I'm not sure on the "stickiest" but I've had good luck with, and currently running, Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S's on my Chevelle.... they have been good tires and have had them on a stout twin turbo 408W in a Fox Body Mustang that we had on the strip and did many street pulls on.....

What is the Measured Width of the Rearend from the Driverside Wheel Mounting Face/Pad to the Passengerside Wheel Mounting Face/Pad ?

If you have a 66 Stock Width Rearend and it is Centered in the Car and your 66 has the Stock Factory
Rear Wheel Wells, they should be about the same as my 67
then you should be able to run the same Tires as I do to get the Max Traction on the Street & Track

However if you already have the 275/60/15s Tires which are 28" in Diameter, so run those on the Street for better Gas Mileage
I have the same Tires/Wheels for the Track on another same set of Tires /Wheels
that way the Track Tires do not get used up or go Hard from Road Heat when driving on the Hwy/Street
