Will raise a tequila glass to SRV tonight. One of my all-time favorites, and gone much too soon.

I often wonder how popular music might be different today (much better, I'd bet) if we still had his influence these last years.

just came out of class, fired up the 68, turned up the radio and heard the news of the crash. Feels like it was yesterday. "Livin life by the drop"

He was a monster talent. The world of Blues lost a real heavyweight when he passed.

SRV is number one in my book. Not to get in a pissing match, because I love Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, etc but I think SRV's skills were second to none and he wasn't just a technician. He poured out his soul. Master showman and a solid voice. I was recently watching the documentary about SRV and Double Trouble at Montreux Jazz festival. He was the best.

When SRV was asked who his hero was, he said "his brother".

I had gone to Michigan to visit relatives that weekend and I brought along Texas Flood for the 4-hour drive. The next day I went to work and learned of his death along with Clapton's touring manager.

The El Macombo? That is a club right here in Toronto that has been around since 1956 I think. It has seen many great acts.
