I have a '70 Chevelle. I replaced the after-market steering wheel with an original that I bought from a guy I found in Hemmings Motor News. Long story short, that was 4 years ago and just today I noticed that my steering wheel had some play in the wheel; as I could rock (slightly) the steering wheel forward and away from myself as I sat in the seat. Upon further inspection, there were cracks at upper portion where where the 2 plastic spokes meet the portion that mates to the steering column. I'm concerned that with no power steering, the shearing stress will eventually cause the wheel to come off in my hands; scary! Does anyone know of venders that sell non-plastic wheels that look good in a '70 Chevelle that has an original interior? Web addresses would be great, as I hope to make a purchase soon. Thanks.

That won't happen as there is a steel core under the plastic. Those cracks are typical in these steering wheels BTW.
