I have a 1968 El Camino SS 396. The steering wheel is in need of restoring. It has considerable cracking and general deterioration around the ring. Does anyone know where to go to get it restored?

I chose to restore my own because I was too cheap to pay hundreds of dollars for that service. Mine isn't perfect though because of those tiny ribs. Many members here endorse Hinshaw's or Steering Wheel Bob, and either can be found by a google search.

Ross, the 68 wheel is the most difficult to restore because of those small ribs. They are small fault lines and that's typically where the cracks form. Most cracks are too wide to repair correctly without making the repair work obvious.

I am going to get my steering wheel restored for my 68 Chevelle soon. Here are some sites I found:

steeringwheelusa.com
qualityrestorations.com
steeringwheelbob.com
kochssteeringwheels.com
backwardsunlimited.com
bestinsteeringwheels.com

Let me know how the restoration goes if you get it done please.
