Im taking the dash board out and i need to know how to drop the steering in my 66'. I took the two bolts and the strap out under the dash, also i took the five screws out of the plate on the firewall, it still wont budge. do i have to remove the bolts out of the steering column in the engine compartment side, thank's for you help.

If it is a column shift, have you disconnected the transmission linkage on the engine side of the firewall?
Sometimes the firewall plate can get stuck even with the bolts removed.
Try twisting and/or sliding the plate up the column which would pull it back away from the firewall.
I would leave the upper strap bolted on while I did that to prevent the column from dropping on my head.
You really don't need to un-bolt the coupler just to drop the column, but you would if you're planning on removing it completely to pull the dash.
I would recomend taking it out completely since it makes getting the dash in and out a whole lot easier, plus you are less prone to scratch the paint on anything.
