I recently installed a different steering wheel on my 66 and there is a gap now between the end of the column and the dish that the steering wheel bolts to. I tried to loosen the peice that bolts to the dash that supports the column and it wount budge.I know I'm missing something.Could someone please help. Thanx

how big of a gap?.. i replaced my steering wheel w/ an aftermarket one and it has about a 1/4 inch gap maybe less... if yours is the same id say its fine... the colum wont move up to meet the dish on the steering wheel...if there is a prob id say its with the adapter that the dish and steering wheel bolt to...

Thanx.It is about 1/4 maybe alittle less.I thought the old wheel was alittle closer,maybe not.Thanx just the same..............

If you can push down on it and close up the gap, you can probably loosen the clamp on the steering shaft under the hood at the lower bearing to move the clamp up while you have some push down on it.
