I'm new to this board, so please excuse my ignorance on this subject. I checked the archives and couldn't find the answer, so here goes. I bought a 1987 Monte Carlo SS p/s box to put on my 1965 Chevelle w/manuel box. The pitman arm off the '65 does not fit on the newer box. Is there somebody who makes one that does? The splined shaft on the new box is much thicker then the older manuel box and the newer pitman arm is about 1" longer(doesn't clear). Is there a conversion part # I am not aware of? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also have a box out of a '96 Impala SS that blots up but has the same pitman arm problem. Can it be made to work? Are the stops an issue?
Thanks

I can't help with your specific year but I put an '80 PS gearbox in my manual steer '67 Elky. I had to buy a '67 PS pitman arm. Fit fine. The manual arm won't work on a PS box.

Yes, the OD on the PS shaft was larger.
