Discussion Starter #1
1967 Chevelle, 283 with A/T, clean unmolested under the hood, acquired the car about 4 months ago, when we purchased the car the starter sounded like it was draging and the solenoid would click a few times before it would engage. Replaced the starter and solenoid twice with quality items and the draging is gone. Still had the solenoid clicking problem, replaced the ignition switch and key tumblers and still have the problem. Clicks 2,3,4, times and then it engages, put a remote starter switch on the starter and there is no clicking, it engages each and every time. What am I missing in order to get a positive engagement each time? It's just like a bad solenoid but it's not a bad solenoid.
Appreciate any guidance, sassy 67

You may have a defective neutral safety switch or maybe some dirty connections in the starter solenoid circuit. Trace the heavy gage purple wire from the ignition switch to the safety switch, and to the starter.
