Hi fellow chevy fans,
I have a question concerning a chevy high torque starter motor.
What are the numbers on the case for a high torque starter???????

I am aware that a long post from the larger body which connects to the field?, or is a ground? is on it but will the case # help out or is it just a myth about the long bolt, I dought it a myth but will ask anyway.

I have a # which is, heck all the info from the hsg.

what year,engine, trans, auto? man.? the high torque starters were used on all big blocks and high hp 350cu usually the 4 bolt blocks, let me know and I might be able to give you the correct part # for your car and maybe some one who has one thanks, Marty

According to Delco web site cross reference section GM part number 1108495
references to Delco 323-256.
The vehicle use for that part shows a high torque starter for 400 and 455 CI Pontiac and Olds from 70-79.

I have no idea if Pon. and Olds. starters fit Chevy?

shooter, I do not know if they fit chevy either they have different part# my book only goes to 1972 but the Olds 70,71 455 high toqure starters # 1108389 the pont.70 400,455 #1108435,71,72 400,455 #1108446, seperate #1108436 showing for the 72 455? I have a 70 396 4 speed it takes part #1108418 the same engine with the auto trans uses 1108430 one has a aluminum nose one has a cast iron nose are you looking for a date coded correct part# or just looking for a replacement starter? Marty
